This past weekend, PGA Professionals from across the Atlantic Zone came together for the 2025 Callaway PGA Atlantic Team Championships at Hampton Golf Course.

Round 1

The action kicked off Saturday afternoon with a 1:45 p.m. shotgun start, and the competition was fierce right from the opening tee shot. Defending champions Steve Leblanc and Braden Duffley of Westfield Golf Club were in the mix, but it was Mark Rogers (Ashburn Golf Club) and Connor Shea (Belvedere Golf Club) who stole the spotlight in Round 1. The pair lit up the course with 10 birdies and an eagle, shooting 12 under par.

“We were really really solid” says Rogers. “We hit it close, so it made it easy to make some putts, something that’s not very common out there”.

Hot on their heels were Jake Ward (Golf NB) and Alex Jewers (BetterGolf Plus) at 62, while three teams sat tied in third with 63: Lindon and Jonathan Garron (Hampton Golf Club), Steve Leblanc and Braeden Duffley (Westfield), and Gavin Ives (PGA Atlantic) with Teran Newell (Grandview).

Round 2

Sunday’s final round brought a whole new test as gusting winds of over 50 km/h swept across the course. “It was hard, a lot of teams struggled” said Shea on battling the tough conditions.

Despite the elements, teams rose to the occasion and delivered an exciting finish. Rogers and Shea proved unstoppable, closing with a gross total of 125, 19-under par, to secure the championship.

“We played a little different today, but we managed. We made a couple strong birdies along the finish to close it out.” reflected Rogers.

The wind, however, did not seem to bother Josh Domine (7 Iron Golf) and Neal Ryan (St George). The duo surged up the leaderboard with an 11-birdie round, jumping from 6th to 2nd, finishing just one stroke behind the leaders. Meanwhile, Jewers and Ward held steady, rounding out the podium with a two day total of 127 and a well-earned third-place finish.

A huge thank you goes out to our host, Jonathan Garron, Director of Golf at Hampton, and his outstanding staff for staging an incredible event. Garron not only led the operations but also competed alongside his father, Lindon Garron, a familiar face in the Atlantic Zone as the former Executive Director.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to our long-time partners at Callaway. Their ongoing support has been instrumental in the growth of this championship. We’re fortunate to have Tommy Dunn, 2024 Atlantic Zone Sales Rep of the Year, in our corner, joined this weekend by Bruce Carroll, GM of Callaway Canada. Their contributions continue to be foundational to the success of this event.
